Lightning kills three, injures four

CHAKWAL: Three persons, including a woman and a child, were killed by lightning while four others were injured on Sunday.
Zumaila Bibi, 60, had gone to her wheat field with her family.
The weather worsened while they were working in the fields early in the morning.
A resident of her village told Dawn that the family took shelter under a tree, which got struck by lightning, killing Zumaila Bibi and her four-year-old grandson, Mohammad Hashim, on the spot.
Zumaila Bibi’s son Ghulam Shabbir, 38, was burnt and injured along with his three sons; 10-year-old Ali, seven-year-old Saif and five-year-old Fahad.
After the incident, Shabbir called his relatives who rushed to the scene, along with personnel of Rescue 1122, and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital.
In a similar incident, 19-year-old Niaz Ali, a shepherd, was killed while grazing his cattle in Rahna Sadat village.
