ISLAMABAD: National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have planned to implement stricter laws for those travelling on motorways to bring down accident ratios and ensure safe travelling.
The department will now suspend driving licences of all those drivers who violate traffic rules thrice while driving on motorways.
This decision was taken in a meeting presided over by Inspector General (IG) National Highways and Motorways Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema.
Apart from this, overloaded or improperly-loaded trucks and trailers will not be allowed on the highways and motorways.
The motorway chief said passenger overloading in public transport vehicles will not be tolerated in any case, however, he added that commuters must be provided help with enthusiasm.
`The quality of service provided to any individual in distress will be used to evaluate an officer`s performance while considering him for annual reward,` Mr Cheema said.
He directed that efforts to inculcate core values, like courtesy, integrity and honesty in officers must be enhanced. Staff Reporter
