A FEW days ago Imran Khan was having a field day castigating the PML-N leadership for owning offshore companies for what he said was a bid to hide ill-gotten wealth and avoid paying taxes. When the media later revealed that the PTI chief, had also formed an offshore company way back in 1983, Imran said with a straight face, `the company was formed to avoid taxes in Britain and not in Pakistan,` as if avoiding taxes is only a crime in Pakistan.
One holds no brief for the ruling party, but it seems Imran has two set of standards, one for himself and the other for others.
Why did he keep mum about owning an offshore company and at times also categorically deny any offshore connection? One does not expect such behaviour from a politician who aspires to be prime minister and has awakened the hopes of ouryouthinfairplay andjustice.Isuggest he take time off for retrospection.
