KHAR: The Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) on Wednesday decided to restore power supply to Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur Agency, following the people`s pledge to pay the electricity charges regularly.
The power supply to the area was suspended four months ago when the tribesmen refused to allow the company to install electricity meters at their houses.
The decision to resume power supply to the residential areas was taken at a meeting of the officials of local administration, Tesco and members of Khar Islahi Jirga, a representative body of political parties and elders.
Bajaur Agency Additional Political Agent Mohammad Irfanuddin chaired the meeting.
On the occasion, representatives of political parties and traders informed the officials that though the people had refused to install electricity meters in their areas, they had promised to regularly pay the power charges according to the flat rate system which had been formulated by Tesco for Fata.
They rejected the Tesco plan to install electricity meters both in the houses and shops in Khar town.
Some elders said the people of Bajaur would let Tesco to install electricity meters at their houses if the same was done in other parts of Fata.
It was decided at the meeting that the elders of Khar town would convince the people and traders to pay the electricity charges under the flat system on regular basis. Correspondent
