LANDI KOTAL: Two protesting students and two khasadars were injured during a protest demonstration by students of Landi Kotal Degree College here on Thursday.

The protesting students were demanding restoration of their annual tribal scholarship, appointment of lecturers and provision of basic facilities like drinking water and electricity at the college premises. Officials said that the protesting students resorted to stone pelting at the khasadar force when they were asked to lift the blockade of the main road they had blocked.

In retaliation the khasadar force fired in the air and also baton charged the protesting students in order to disperse them and open the road. During the scuffle, two students and two khasadars received injuries. Khasadar officials said that one student Rahimullah was rushed to a local hospital after he fainted during baton charge.

APA Niaz Mohammad later held talks with the students and convinced them to end their demonstration.—Correspondent
