TOBA TEK SINGH: Four people were killed and two others injured when strong winds followed by rain hit Jhang and Chiniot on Wednesday night.
Reports said two members of a gypsy familya woman and a child died while as many others injured critically when a dilapidated roof of passengers waiting shed fell on them during windstorm at Jhang on Athara Hazari-Kot Shakir linkroad in Kot Shakir police precincts.
According to Rescue 1122, Mumtaz Bibi (65) of Chak Garha Mor located in Mailsi tehsil and her grandson (daughter`s son) Adnan Amer (10), Adnan Allah Ditta (30) (her son) and 12-yearold Arbaz Amer (another grandson) were on their way to their hut.
During windstorm, they took shelter at an earth-made old structure of an abandoned passengers waiting shed at Athara Hazari.
Suddenly the shed caved in as a resultMumtaz and Adnan Amer were buried alive while the other two suffered injuries.
They were admitted to Jhang DHQ hospital.
In another incident, lightning struck Haq Bahu sugar mills located in Jhang`s Athara Hazari area due to which a fire broke out. As a result molasses stocked on the ground worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes. Rescue 1122 controlled the fire after hectic efforts.
CHINIOT: A woman and her husbandwere killed and two other suffered injuries when roof of their house situated at Village Q azian on Sargodha Road bypass collapsed Rescue 1122 removed the debris and found Ayesha (45) and her husband Amir (55) dead. Amir`s mother Fatima (80) and a relative Naseem Bibi (60) sustained serious injuries and fractures.
The injured were hospitalised by rescue ambulances. The windstorm also damaged sheds and dismantled solar panels at various rooftop.
