KARACHI: IMGC has become the first film distribution house in the country to cross the 500 million rupees mark at the domestic box office this year.
The total figure for all the film releases in the first half of 2016 is approximately Rs1,500m, says a press release on Saturday.
The year, however, has not been particularly productive for Pakistani films, as apart from the Asim Raza-directed `Ho Mann Jahaan` [which collected Rs162.5m], the box office earnings for the released movies have been on the lower side.
It is expected that they will pick up in the second half.
ARY has released only one film during the year so far. Eveready is experiencing one of its dullest years with `Bachaana` proving to be its savinggrace. Geo has two films to its credit and both have done respectable business.
Footprints had small English releases, whereas HKC has had more releases but their results have not been uptothemarlc.SummitEntertainment`s single release `Ki and Ka` has been a decent grosser.
The following is the total collections for all distribution houses in the country: IMGC Rs516.3m, HKC Rs311.1m, Eveready Rs208m, ARY Films Rs163.5m, Geo Films Rs137.5m, Footprints Rs72.1m and Summit Entertainment Rs44.5m.
The following are IMGC`s top earners of the year: `Kapoor and Sons` Rs99.5m; `Housefull 3` Rs68.5m; `Baaghi` Rs65.5m; `Captain America: Civil War` Rs63.5m and `The Jungle Book` Rs59m.
