SHANGLA: A policeman drowned in Indus River here on Saturday evening.

An official of Dedal Kamach police station told Dawn that SHO Khurshid Khan along with three other personnel was on a mobile duty on boats, when a policeman identified as ljaz Khan fell into the river. To save him, the SHO and the other policemen jumped into the river, but they were also swept away by the current. However, the local people rushed to the spot and pulled out the SHO and two other policemen from the water, but ljaz Khan of Sundvi, Puran could not be retrieved.
