Helpline `130` inactive

2017-06-19
WHILE road networks are important for a growing country, assistance of the police on these road networks is a must.

Recently I had an ordeal on the KarachiHyderabad Motorway. First thing that came to my mind was to call the motorway police helpline No.130. To my dismay, on dialling 130, I found out that the helpline is not active even if you dial it with an area code. Throughout the journey it was observed that only two vehicles were stationed on the highway: one at the Hyderabad toll and the other at the Karachi toll.

No wonder, traf fic jams are there because of the minimal police attention. I have observed this happen frequently as I am a regular traveller. I called the complaint number provided on the website of the National Highway Authority and the Motorway police, but most numbers there were inactive. However, at one number, the representative gave me a mobile number.

The person on the mobile number was kind and humble, but he was shocked when informed about inactive numbers. He also asked me to send them an email, which I dutifully did. I request the relevant authorities to look into this matter or provide new numbers to the commuters.

People facing issues on highway usually require urgent attention.
