HARIPUR: Social welfare and special education department, Haripur, on Saturday initiated a signature campaign for discouraging child labour in the district.

The campaign, which started from the office of district officer social welfare, was organised jointly with civil society organisations in connection with the World Day Against Child Labour.

Social welfare officer Sana Iqbal briefed the participants about the ongoing efforts of her department and district vigilance committee for identifying hotspots of child labour and remedial measures.

She said the campaign would be expanded in the coming weeks. The event was followed by a walk to create awareness of steps to discourage child labour. Correspondent
