Rape case against policeman

BAHAWALPUR: The Civil Lines police on Wednesday booked its former sub-inspector (SI) for raping a girl.
An FIR was registered under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the alleged rape survivor, who stated that the incident occurred on March 13.
According to the complainant, the suspect initially came into contact with her on Sept 19, 2024, while pursuing a fleeing criminal who had entered her house in Mushtaq Colony.
The SI took her phone number under the pretext of legal formalities and later contacted her on Dec 12, 2024. During the call, he askedabout her education, family background and other personal details, saying that he could help her secure a job based on her qualifications. This led to regular phone conversations between the two.
She alleged that on March 13, the SI asked her to bring her CV and educational documents to Islamia University, Bahawalpur Chowk.
According to the complainant, the suspect picked her up from there in the evening and took her to an undisclosed building, where he raped her at gunpoint.
The suspect reportedly told her that he wanted to marry her and that he would arrange a job for her soon.
The survivor said she initially stayed silent to protect her family`s honour but has now shared herordeal with her mother and other relatives.
The suspect, currently affiliated with the Counter Terrorism Department, has not yet been arrested.
CASE: The Multan bench of the Lahore High Court, comprising Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry and Justice Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, upheld the death sentence of Muhammad Amin in a double murder case.
Amin had appealed the decision of the sessions court, which had sentenced him to death for killing his wife, Kausar Ghani and daughter Zunera Amin and injuring another daughter Ansa Amin during a domestic dispute last year.
The Multan police had submitted his challan to the sessions court, where he was convicted.
