232 students from Sindh`s rural areas to get education in Islamabad

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Sindh Education Foundation and the Abdul Qadeer Khan School System Islamabad and under the agreement 232 students belonging to remote areas of rural Sindh will be imparted high-quality education in Islamabad. For this purpose the Sindh education department will provide Rs32 million.
He said this while presiding over a meeting in his office on Tuesday.
He said that these students had been selected through a test conducted by the SEF and the A.Q.
Khan School System in maths, English and science and they would get education till completion of secondary classes.The minister said that the Sindh government was serious in providing good-quality education to all children across the province and for the purpose the government wanted cooperation of the private sector.
`The Sindh Curriculum Authority (SCA) will enable us to design curriculum up to the modern needs and to run the SCA, eligible and competent persons will be hired from the open market.` He added that the work on supplying missing facilities at schools was in progress across the province and certain number of schools had been provided facilities. The work would be completed by this December.
He asked the secretary of education (schools) to complete a feasibility report on installation of solar system at schools so that the schools might get this facility and the students might get their education without any hindrance.
