Readers make leaders

2022-07-19
EXPERTS across the world, regardless of their field of expertise, have one thing in common. They are habitual readers. If we want our children to grow up to being talented individuals in any field, we have to ensure that our children develop a habit of reading. However, it is easier said than done.

In the digital age, when a handheld device is always within reach, developing an environment that may encourage the childrenin this directionis often difhcult.

But with some ef fort, helpful tricks and perseverance, parents caninculcate a sense of appreciation for books in their children.

Parents must keep books at home, making them easily accessible to the children. But usually children who read have parents who do the same. As such, furthering one`s reading habit is a key if you want your children to do the same.

Moreover, for those who can afford, colourful magazines and colouring books are useful in making reading exciting.

One cannot deny that reading expands one`s emotional, intellectual and social understanding, and in an age where artificial intelligence is replacing many human functions, its utility cannot be emphasised enough. Readers of today will make leaders of tomorrow.
