Welfare fund sees increase of Rs50bn in current financial year

I S L A M A B A D : Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) , after witnessing a huge surge in its funding during last financial year, has surged to Rs50 billion, says a press release on Tuesday.

In the Enancial year 2021-22, the WWF had recorded receipts of Rs14 billion, which witnessed an impressive surge in the subsequent Enancial year showcasing the government`s dedication to uplifting workers and their families throughout the country.

One of the noteworthy recent accomplishments of the WWF has been successful clearance of all backlogs related to marriage grants, death grants and educational scholarships across the country and sending of 67 workers to perform Haj after a lapse of two years.

The government has increased marriage grant from Rs200,000 to Rs400,000, death grant from Rs400,000 to Rs800,000, transport amount from Rs1,500 to Rs6,000, uniform amount from Rs4,500 to Rs9,000, and books/stationery amount from Rs7,000 to Rs14,000.

Furthermore, the WWF disbursed 3,738 educational scholarships worth Rs147,394,591.
