ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday declared the arrest of Sanam Javed illegal and disposed of the petition seeking her release as the Attorney General assured the court that she will not be arrested in any other case.
The counselfor Sanana Javed on the other hand assured the court that she would not indulge in unnecessary rhetoric as IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb noted that her language in some social media posts was not decent.
The court, however, ruled that her arrest was illegal.
Last week, the Lahore High Court discharged her in a case of May 9 riots registered in Gujranwala. However, soon after her release, she was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and brought to Islamabad. On Sunday, a judicial magistrate cleared her from the case, but she was arrested again, thistime by the Balochistan Police.
The Balochistan Police was seeking her transit remand from the judicial magistrate of Islamabad to take her to the province.
The Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan however assured the court that the provincial police would not press for their application seeking transit remand.
