2013-08-19
LAHORE, Aug 18: A large number of students and their parents visited the two-day Dawn-AusPak education expo which opened at Pearl Continental hotel here on Sunday.

At least 23 major universities of Australia set up their stalls at the venue to provide information to the visitors about the courses they were offering, the scholarships, visa processing as well as career counseling.

More than 8,000 Pakistani students take admission in Australian educational institutions every year.

Australian High Commissioner Peter Heyward also took a round of the stalls. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he wished enhanced interaction and academic collaboration between educational institutions of the two countries.

AusPak CEO Suhail Rizvi said many visitors were interested in knowing about the ranking of the university they were planning to get admission to as well as opportunities for part-time jobs during education and post-education adjustment in Australia.

He says the potential students are also being informed about the post-arrival requirements so that they do not face any difficulty after landing at Australian airports.

Bilal Ahmed, a post-doctoral candidate who visited the expo along with his wife and a toddler, said he was looking for a scholarship that could cover the cost of his family there.
