PESHAWAR: Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, who is also the chancellor of public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has asked the administration of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Sharingle, Dir district, to adopt a financial management plan in line with the finance department rules to ensure financial discipline.
He was chairing the fifth meeting of the Senate of SBBU at the Governor`s House here on Tuesday. Vice-chancellor of the university, special secretary higher education department, secretary finance department and other officers attended the meeting, according to a statement issued by the Governor`s House.
The governor said that the university`s administration should manage better financial discipline to minimise its budgetary expenditures. He was briefed about the actual budget, income and receipt sources as well as the total expenditures and payments. He was also briefed about the estimated budget for 2014-15 and 2015-16 and the proposed business plan of the university for the next five years. The governor approved the rules of business of the university and asked the varsity authorities to focus on improvement of the academic standard.
The meeting also selected Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari and Sahibzada Mohammad Khalid as the new members for the representation committee of the senate. It also approved the proposal for affiliation of 12 private sector colleges with the university. It was agreed that the private colleges providing quality education and having the required facilities would be affiliated with SBBU. The tenure of the incumbent registrar was extended for another three years.
