54 dengue patients reported in Punjab

TOBA TEK SINGH: Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said that 54 dengue patients have been reported in Punjab while the anti-dengue awareness campaign is also underway.

During his surprise visit to the Rural Health Centre in Nawan Lahore on Thursday, he took notice of the absence of the medical officer from the duty and asl(ed the EDO (Health) to submit MO`s report to him.

He also expressed concern over a theft of the RHC ambulance and directed the officials concerned to send him a report at the earliest.

RECOVERED: The Rajana police recovered on Thursday transformers and dozens of batteries looted from towers of mobile phone companies from an inter-district dacoits` gang.

SHO Jamshed Chishti claimed that a dacoit had been killed in a shootout with villagers a few days back near a mobile phone tower in Chak 358-GB while his four accomplices were arrested and transformers and batteries worth millions of rupees recovered.

He said nine cases of murder and dacoity had been registered against gangsters at the Rajana police station.

He said similar cases had also been registered against these criminals at police stations in Toba, Chuttiana, Gojra, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhera, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Jhang.

RELEASED: Eight activists of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek were released on Thursday.

Those released included Shahzad Ahmad, Muhammad Awais, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Iqbal, Zahid Ali, Irshad Ahmad and Kashif Mahmood.
