TAXILA: The Wah Cantonment police on Monday claimed to have solved a murder case of a 60-year-old man who was found dead in his house in Kolian village on Sept 13 and arrested his grandson.
The man has confessed to having killed his grandfather over a property.
SDPO Taxila circle DSP Sajid Gondal while talking t o newsmen here on Monday said the accused was a student in a private school.
Giving details, he said that homicide investigation unit traceed the killer through his shoes he had left while fleeing the crime scene.
Mr Gondal said the murderer told the police that he went to his grandfather`s house at night and hit pistol`s butt in his head as a result he died on the spot, he added.
The DSP further added that the killer told his interrogators that he was told he could transfer his grandfather`s property in his name after his (grandfather) death.
`I killed my grandfather just to grab his land,` he quoted the accused as saying.
He said Ghulam Munir, the son of the deceased,in his complaint to the police said that a man came to his house on Wednesday morning and informed him that his father`s body was lying in a pool of blood in the courtyard of his house. He rushed to the scene and saw his father`s dead body.
Wah Cantt police had registered a murder case under section 302.
Mr Gondal further revealed that the Wah Saddar Police claimed to have busted a gang of interdistrict car lifters and arrested their three members besides recovering three vehicles and the money they collected after selling the stolen cars.
He said during preliminary interrogation they confessed to having lifted as many as 16 cars including 2 from Gujjar Khan and 14 from Taxila circle.
