LAHORE: As many as 80 more people tested positive for the dengue virus during the last 24 hours in Punjab, taking the total number to2,738 across the province.

The health department said of the new cases, 32 were reported from Lahore while the others surfaced in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan. The totalnumber of positive dengue cases has reached 1,150 in the provincial capital.

The department claimed that sufficient arrangements had been made to accommodate the dengue patients athospitals.

The dengue situation was under control and the health teams were working in the field to destroy the mosquito larvae, the health authorities said adding only 90 dengue patients were currently under treatment at hospitals.
