Four killed in Swat attacks

MINGORA, Oct 18: Four people were killed in separate acts of terrorism in Swat district on Wednesday, the first Eid day.

Police said Aqal Jehan and nephew Sher Bahadar, residents of Sherabad area, were killed after unidentified people targeted their car in Mian Sheikh Baba area by exploding a roadside bomb by remote control.

They said the two died on the spot.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Malakand division Abdullah Khan said 10 kilogrammes explosive was used in the blast.

He said law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the area after the blast and arrested around 60 suspected people, most of them freed after interrogation.

Also in the day, two people died and 10 injured after firing by unidentified people caused their vehicle to plunge into a deep ravine in Manja area of Kabal tehsil.

Police said Jannat Zeb died on the spot, while one of the 11 injured, Khan Bacha, breathed his last at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar afterwards.

They said two injured people were under treatment at the Peshawar hospitals, while the rest were admitted to Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital.

Police said they had begun investigation after registering an FIR against unidentifled attackers.

MORE DENGUE PATIENTS DIE: Three more dengue patients died in Swat on Thursday and Friday taking the number of deaths claimed by the mosquitoborne disease in the district over two months to 40.

According to Dr Wasil Khan, focal person for Dengue Emergency Unit at Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital, Reshma, 22-year-old resident of Khwajaabad area in Mingora and Husna, 14-yearold resident of Amankot area, have died of dengue.

Meanwhile, an official of the district administration said Fazlullah, a resident of Charbagh, had also died of dengue.
