IN today`s globalised world, no country can attain an acceptable level of excellence without a high literacy rate, but Pakistan, unfortunately, has a lowly 60 per cent liter acy r ate.
Among the reasons for our low literacy rate are the still prevailing feudal system, the totally inadequate budget for education and the government`s casual approach to this issue.
Achieving a high literacy rate must be the top priority for the government. The future of Pakistan lies in achieving a high literacy rate, which requires blunt and bold steps on a war-footing by all provinces.
