2022-10-19
KARACHI: `Our people deserve commendation for co-operating whole-heartedly with us in our ef forts to maintain law and order. It is gratif ying to note that the incidence of even ordinary crime all over Sind has decreased as compared to previous years,` said Mr M.A. Khuhro, Premier of Sind... . ...[H]e said that there were already over 125,000 refugees in the province and the hands of the Government were too full with the problems of these. He, therefore, appealed to the intending immigrants to wait until conditions improved in the province. Mr Khuhro deprecated the attitude of some refugees in refusing to do honest work when of fered.

Mr Khuhro explained the steps taken by the Government to ensure protection of the minorities and `how in response to the wishes of the minorities` representatives of the Government had practically stopped all search of the person and baggage of emigrants. ... In order to check unauthorised or forced occupation of houses in Karachi, the Housing Committee, aided by the local police is doing useful work. It is regrettable that those Hindu evacuees who are leaving their houses do not cooperate with the authorities in spite of our repeated appeals.
