Firing between police, drug traffickers claims infant`s life

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An infant was killed and a little girl was injured seriously when the police and suspected drug traffickers exchanged fire in Kirri Syedan area of Tank district on Tuesday.
SHO Mureed Akbar police station Gul Wali said the police raided a house in Kirri Syedan village on a tip-off that a drug trafficker, Sanobar, along with his accomplices was hiding there.
He said as the police reached the spot, the drug trafficker opened fire on them, forcing the personnel to return fire. During the crossfire, he said a two-year-old boy was killed and a six-year-old girl was injured in a nearby house.
He said the drug smugglers managed to escape from the scene.
The deceased child was identified as Shayan Mehsud, and the girl as Hanab Bibi.
