GILGIT: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) on Friday installed an ATM machine at the Khunjerab top on the PakChina border.

Commander 10 Corps Lt-Gen Malik Zafar Iqbal inaugurated the ATM. The ATM has been set up at 15,397 feet above the sea level, making it the world`s highest ATM installed anywhere in the world.

Chief Minister Hafizur Rehman, Force Commander Gilgit-Baltistan Saqib Mahmud Malik, NBP president Syed Ahmed Iqbal Ashraf, civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.

Talking to media persons after inaugurating the ATM, Gen Iqbal said that ATM facility was essential to the businessmen at Khunjerab top due to increasing trade and business activities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He applauded NBP for installing ATM at Khunjerba top.

The NBP hopes that the ATM will also serve the growing needs of tourists that go to the northern most parts of the country.-Correspondent
