PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa excise, taxation and narcotics control department has notified establishment of five excise police stations at the divisional levelacross the province.
A notification issued on Wednesday said in terms of section 4 of the KP Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 2019, the competent authority had declared the district excise offices of Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Swat and Mardan as the excise police stations.
The department has also deputed 20 officials for these police stations, including five for Peshawar region and four each for Mardan, Malakand, South and Hazara regions.
A statement issued here quoted secretary excise and taxation Syed Zafar All Shah as saying that the KP had become the first province to enact legislation to control narcotics. He said the excise officials themselves would now be able to register FIRs at these police stations in narcotics cases.-Bureau Report
