ISLAMABAD: Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa split the squash events with Sakhillah Tareen and Zohra Abdullah clinching individual and team titles on the penultimate day of action at the Quaid-e-Azam Games on Wednesday.
Sakiullah downed teammate Abdullah Nadeem Butt in the men`s singles final before the duo joined forces with Khakan and Asher to down KP in the team final as Punjab strengthened their position on the top of the medals table with 164 medals, 77 of them gold.
Two of second-placed KP`s 24 golds out of a total of 91 were delivered by Zohra, who downed Sindh`s Damina in the women`s singles final before she and her team-mates Hira, Nimra and Hafisa denied Punjab a third squash gold in the team final.
Sindh are third in the medals table with 72 overall and their 15th gold came in men`s football, where their team won the final against KP. They were denied a football double after Islamabad defeated them in the women`s final.
