LAHORE: Multicoloured lights, music, steamy coffee cups, marigolds, laughters, wolf whistles and dance set the scene alive at the Youth Peace Music Festival at St Anthony`s College on Sunday.
The National Commission for Justice and Peace organised the musical festival in which young artists from different religions along with mainstream bands performed to spread the message of peace and tolerance.
Overload and SYMT were the two major bands at the music gala along with many individuals and lesser-known bands who thrilled the occasion. At least 15 young singers from various cities of Punjab also performed. The singers were selected by a jury through their entries of peace songs.
Cecil Shane Chaudhry, executive director of the NCJP, said `Music and conflict can be found in every society and music can end conflicts by bringing people closer. Obviously music alone cannot bring about world peace but increasing violent conflicts in the world justified the need to unearth the potential of music.
