Edwardians donate 250 pints of blood

PESHAWAR: The students of Edwardes College donated 250 pints of blood during a camp organised by Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassaemia Centre and Blood Services Peshawar.
Organisers and students of historical institution said that the camp was held in collaboration with HM Close Blood Donor Society on Sunday, according to a statement.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of Prof Zahir Shah Muhammadzai, the head of the society, with the active participation of society`s president Saad Ahmed Jan, senior vice-president Mohammad Sami Hamaad, general secretary Talha Zia and other members of cabinet. The enthusiastic participation of Edwardians made the event a historic achievement, marking 19 years of dedicated service by Hamza Foundation.
The medical director of Hamza Foundation, Dr Tariq Khan, conducted medical checkup of students and 17 of them were found medically unfit for blood donation. About 250 healthy volunteers donated their blood for saving precious lives of 1,504 registered patientsof Hamza Foundation.
Prof Shujat Ali Khan, the principal of the college, praised the spirit of students and commitment to the noble cause. He highlighted the importance of serving humanity. He encouraged students to continue the tradition of altruism, underscoring that every donation could potentially save three lives.
Ijaz Ali Khan, the chairman ofHamzaFoundation,expressed his gratitude to the principal, the blood donation team and volunteers. He thanked all for contribution to alleviating the suffering of those in need of blood transfusions.
Ateequr Rehman and Ibrarullah jan of Hamza Foundation presented commemorative shields to Principal Prof Shujat Ali Khan and head of blood donors society Prof Zahir Shah as a token of appreciation for their support and collaboration.
