ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has been elected chairperson of the parliamentary special committee on child abuse.

The committee, during its meeting on Monday, recommended that a detailed report should be obtained regarding the latest laws including delegated legislation and judgement on child abuse for the next meeting.

Ms Aurangzeb`s name was proposed for the post by MNA Romina Khurshid Alam during a meeting held earlier to elect its chairperson at the Parliament House.

It is pertinent to mention that after seven-year-old Zainab was raped and murdered in Kasur, the public demanded legislation to address the issue of child abuse.
