Five-wicket hauls for Ubaid, Mansoor

KARACHI: Fast bowler Ubaid Shah picked up his second first-class five-for to help Ghani Glass dismiss State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for 233 on the opening day of their eighth round-match of the President`s Trophy Grade-I at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi on Wednesday.

After electing to bowl first, Ghani Glass picked up two early wickets before Umar Amin (51) and Mohammad Ghazi Ghori (77) came together to stitch a 125-run stand. However, no other batter stayed at the crease as SBP only managed 88 runs while losing their last seven wickets.

Ubaid returned figures of 5-46 in 12.5 overs while spinner Noman Ali and paceman Mir Hamza chipped in with two wickets apiece.

In reply, Ghani Glass openers Sharjeel Khan (40) and Hammad Butt (45) gave their team a solid 83-run start.

After Sharjeel`s departure Kashif Bhatti struck regularly to take four wickets for just eight runs in six overs leaving Ghani Glass reeling at 107-5 in 25 overs at stumps.

At the SBP Sports Complex, Khan Research Laboratories` (KRL) Rohail Nazir brought up his fifth first-class century as he struck 120 with the help of 17 fours against Eshaal Associates. Rohail also added 197 runs for the third wicket with Imran Rafiq (76) as KRL finished the day at 310-5 in 89 overs.

Half-centuries from Nabi Gul (88) and Imran Dogar (52) lifted Wapda to 261 all out at stumps against the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at the KCCA Stadium.

Mansoor Ali picked up 5-69 in 21.1 overs. The HEC were 15-0 at stumps.

Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) were 265-9 at stumps on day one against Pakistan Television (PTV) at the NBP Sports Complex.

OGDCL`s wicket-keeper/batter Khayyam Khan, batting at No. 8, struck an unbeaten 80 while opener Sameer Saqib crafted a 67-run innings. PTV`s Ammad Butt returned figures of 4-76 in his 21 overs.-Agencies
