DERA GHAZI KHAN: A constable was arrested for attempting to manipulate the recruitment process to benefit his son at Sakhi Sarwar police station.

Reports said constable Muhammad Taufeeg tried to help his son Adeel cheat during a physical fitness test by allowing him to use a motorcycle during the running assessment. The test, designed to evaluate candidates` endurance and physical capability, was compromised when officials and fellow candidates noticed the constable`s son riding a motorcycle instead of completing the run on foot.

The attempt sparked outrage, prompting an immediate investigation.

Authorities confirmed the constable`s arrest, while his son managed his escape.

A case under sections 155C, 420 and 34 of Pakistan Penal Code has been registered against both and raids are under way to arrest the absconding suspect.

Local residents and candidates expressed anger over the incident, calling for stricter oversight in recruitment processes to prevent such misconduct.

`This is a clear case of favouritism and corruption,` said one of the candidates. `It undermines the integrity of the entire system.

In response, the police department has assured the public that strict action will be taken against those involved. Officials have also pledged to review and strengthen recruitment procedures to uphold transparency and fairness.
