Man tortured over alleged affair

MUZAFFARGARH: A man was subjected to brutal torture and his head and eyebrows were shaved at Sarwar Shaheed Chowk and a video of the incident was shared online.

The police have registered a case under multiple sections, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act of 2016.

According to the FIR, Javed Ghuman was accused of eloping with a woman in Chak 655 TDA.

Later, local elders intervened and got the woman back.

The suspects identified as Abdul Ghafoor, Mumtaz, Ansar, Zaffar and Zoheb abducted him, took him to the cattle shed, tied him up and beat him.

They also blackened his face, shaved his mustaches and eyebrows and placed shoelaces around his neck.

The police, acting on a complaint, registered a case under sections 365, 355, 337V, 292, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code along with Peca 2016.

Two suspects have been arrested,while raids are underway to arrest the remaining accused.

ACCIDENT: Three people died and 10 others were injured seriously in a road accident involving a motorcycle, a van and a tractor-trolley in Alipur on Wednesday.

First, a motorcycle and a van collided and meanwhile, the sugarcaneladen tractor-trolley struck the van.

Three people died and 10 others were injured. The family which suffered the accident had come from Liaquatpur to pick a bride in Alipur.

The injured were shifted to Alipur THQ Hospital in a critical condition, and of them, three were referred to Bahawalpur due to their life-threatening injuries.

FIRE: A major disaster was narrowly avoided in Qasba Gujrat after a fire broke out at a private oil company`s warehouse near the PakArab Refinery Company (Parco) on Tuesday night.

The flames, visible from a dis-tance, forced the authorities to evacuate oil tankers from the depot to prevent further escalation. One person suffered severe burns, but firefighters managed to bring the blaze undercontrolbeforeitspread.

Gujrat is home to several private oil warehouses, including facilities linked to Pak Arab Oil Refinery.

DASTI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Jamshed Dasti after he failed to appear. Dasti was summoned on the applications of Malik Zulfiqar Dogar and Amir Akbar, who accused him of concealing assets, including the Apollo Textile Mills case.

The ECP has now ordered him to appear on Feb 27. The commission also directed the secretary of the National Assembly and the Muzaffargarh deputy commissioner to ensure Dasti`s compliance with the summons. Correspondent
