ISLAMABAD: The elections to four Senate seats from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) will be held on Friday (today), one weel< after the oath-taking of 48 senators elected on March 5.
According to an official of the Election Commission ofPakistan(ECP),11members of the National Assembly from Fata will cast their votes in accordance with the old procedure to elect four senators.
Polling will be held from9am to 4pm in a committee room of the Parliament House and there are 36 candidates in the race for the four seats.
Under the laid down procedure, 12 MNAs from Fata are required to elect senators by making four choices marked in order of preference on the ballot paper.
At the moment, one seat of Fata MNA is vacant and there are 11 MNAs from tribal areas.-Staff Reporter
