CM discusses bilateral ties in meetings with Chinese, Iraqi diplomats

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong here on Wednesday to discuss ongoing ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and future collaborations.

During the meeting, the chief minister stated that new development opportunities emerged following President Asif Ali Zardari`s meeting with the Chinese president.

He highlighted plans to initiate various water projects in Karachi with Chinese assistance and expand cooperation in solar energy initiatives.

Expressing interest in finalising major development projects, he revealed plans to visit China soon.

He emphasised that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari gave special importance to Pakistan-China relations, recalling his visits to China as the foreign minister.

The Chinese diplomat assured that investors from China are ready toenhance their investments in Sindh.

Both sides also discussed advancements in agricultural technology and research to improve productivity.

`Iraqi consulate resumes operations in Karachi` Also on Wednesday, the CM met with Iraq`s Consul General Dr Mehr Mujahid Jijian.

Congratulating the consul general on his appointment, the chief minister welcomed him and acknowledged the significance of restoring the consulate`s operations in the metropolis after two decades.

He also extended congratulations on the resumption of visa and other services for the people of Sindh.

Dr Jijian emphasised that the re opening of the consulate willbenefit citizens, particularly religious pilgrims. He highlighted that Iraq was among the first countries to establish a consulate in Pakistan after its independence.-PPI
