Nasir grabs 11 as Navy rout Haideri Traders in two days

KARACHI: Experienced offspinner Nasir Owais grabbed a rich 11-wicket haul as Navy sealed an emphatic 10-wicl(et victory against Haideri Traders in their second-round Pool `A` fixture of the Patron`s Trophy Grade-H cricket tournament here at the NBP Sports Complex on Friday.

On day two of the three-day game at the NBP Sports Complex, Haideri Traders lost 17 wickets across their two turns at the crease. Replying to Navy`s 336, Haideri Traders added 73 to their overnight first-innings tally of 64-3.

Nasir claimed six wickets for 54 runs in 23.3 overs with fellow off-spinner Raza-ul-Hasan taking 2-3 in three overs.

Forced to follow on by Navyskipper Babar Hussain Agha, Haideri Traders fared marginally better before being dismissed for 199 in their second innings.

Skipper Jalat Khan, batting at No.8 struck 82 from 126 balls with eight fours and two sixes to emerge as the top scorer.

Nasir was once again chief destroyer with figures of 5-94 from 22 overs, giving him match bag of 11 for 148.

In the other Pool `A` match at the SBP Sports Complex, Omar Associates bounced back to leave Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in tatters at 35-5 after being all out for 224 to enable their opponents take a slim lead of 38 on the first innings.

Paceman Shahid Nawaz stood out for CAA with six wickets for 55 runs in 13.1 overs.

State Bank were 99-3 after PIA reached 230-7 in 83 overs of theirPool `C` clash at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad.

After Thursday`s blank day in the Pool `D` tie at the LCCA Ground in Lahore, K-Electric bludgeoned 402-8 in the stipulated 83 overs against Karachi Port Trust with five batsmen crossing the 50-run mark.

Sabir`s Poultry were on cusp of victory as Railways were shot out for 103 in their second innings with the new-ball pairing of Nisar Ahmed (6-28) and Manzoor Khan (4-28) sharing the wickets.

Earlier, Sabir`s Poultry earned a small 10-run lead by making 210 with opener Imran Dogar scoring a rapid 80-ball 90 (18 boundaries and one six) and former Pakistan star Imran Nazir who is leading the department hitting a 31-ball 37.

In the Pool`B` encounter at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad where the first day was washedout, HEC made 266 in 79 overs after being put into bat by Port Qasim Authority captain Khurram Manzoor.
