Fireworks factory roof collapses after blasts

TOBA TEK SINGH:The roof of an illegal fireworks manufacturing factory near Chak 113-GB, Jaranwala, collapsed after blasts occurred in the stored fireworks.

No one was injured; however, a fire broke out in a two-acre wheat crop adjacent to the factory. All of the wheat was reduced to ashes before Rescue 1122 firefightersmanaged to control the blaze.

Jaranwala Saddar police were conductingraids to arrestfactory owner Sajjad.

ENCOUNTER: Two robbers from Vehari district were killed in an alleged encounter with Rajana police on Friday night.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, four outlaws were fleeing towards Chak 186GB after snatching a motorcycle and cash from Abid, who waspassing through the link road at Chak 185-GB. Police chased them, but the suspects opened fire. The police retaliated. After the firing stopped, police found one of them dead and another seriously injured.

The deceased was identified as Akhtar Abbas of Chak 455-EB, Burewala, while injured Husnain Sunny of Chak 177-EB, Burewala, died while being shifted to Rajana Rural Health Centre.The press release said both robbers died from bullets fired by their accomplices. It also claimed that they were involved in dozens of dacoities in various districts.

INJURED: Five people were critically injured after a bus hit a motorcycle-rickshaw on Sargodha Road in Faisalabad on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 shifted all of them to Allied Hospital.

The injured included Parveen Bibi (70), Rabia Bibi (40),Mushtaq Ahmad (38), Hammad (18), and Sajida Bibi (45).

MAID BOOKED: Madina Town police in Faisalabad registered a case against a housemaid on Saturday for stealing gold ornaments worth Rs15m and Rs500,000 in cash from a house located in Saeed Colony.

Mowahid Hussain, a trader, stated in the FIR that Sadia Bibi had been working in their home for the past five years and disappeared after committing the theft.
