SHANGLA: Three bodies, including that of a girl, were found in different areas here on Saturday — two from the Indus River and one, a young boy, from a field in Chawga area.
Chawga police station SHO Ajmal Khan said the tortured body of a young boy was found in a field, who was later identified as Shahbaz Khan, a resident of Chawga.
He said Amjad Khan, the slain boy’s brother, earlier reported that Shahbaz had gone missing.
He quoted the complainant as saying Shahbaz was tortured before being shot dead by their rivals over a family dispute.
He said an FIR was registered, and efforts were underway to trace the suspects.
Local residents said the boy was set to leave for abroad in the coming days.
Meanwhile, two bodies were recovered from the Indus River in Bisham and Chakesar tehsils on Saturday, a rescue official said, adding a total of four bodies had been recovered from the river over the past three days.
A doctor at Bisham Hospital told Dawn that body of a 13-year-old girl, identified as Sumaira Bibi, a resident of Dunai, Karora, was brought to the hospital after being recovered from the river.
He said the family refused to allow an autopsy. The body was handed over to heirs after completing medico-legal procedures. However, there were no signs of torture on the girl’s body.
Nisar Ahmad, Dunai village nazim, told Dawn that the girl was mentally challenged and had left her home seven days ago. A missing report had been lodged at the Karora police station.
Police added the other body was of a middle-aged man, but had not yet been identified. — Correspondent
