Establishment of BISP distribution point in sports ground protested

MARDAN: Youth of the Hotilocality here on Sunday took to streets against the establishment of a Benazir Income Support programme fund distribution point in a sports ground in the area, depriving them of healthy activities.
Led by the union council chairman Yousaf Khan, a large number of youth held a protest rally that turned into a demonstration upon their arrival to the building of Mardan Press Club.
The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands. They chanted slogans against the establishment of BISP distribution point at the Hoti sports ground that caused them to halt their sports activities for the last one year.
Speaking on the occasion, UC chairman Yousaf Khan alleged that the BISP distribution point on the premises of sports ground had badly affected the games and other recreational activities of youth and children.
He said that the affected youths had filed complaints and applications to relevant officials time and again regarding their problems, but to no avail.
Other speakers demanded of the quarters concerned to shift the distribution point to another suitable place.
Theyfearedtheyouthscouldfallpreytobadhandsif they were kept from positive activities.
They warned they would forcibly get the ground empty of the BISP distribution activities if the officials did not take the matter seriously.
