Armed clash leaves two dead in Bajaur

KHAR: An armed clash between two groups over a domestic dispute left two persons dead and three injured in Khar tehsil, officials said.

They said the incident took place in Gozano Sha village, 10km from here, late Thursday. They said armed men of tribal elders, Bacha Khan and Mohammad Khan, exchanged fire for about an hour, which resulted in the death of two persons identified as Subhan Khan and Abdul Wahid Khan. Three persons Mohammad Gul, Bacha Khan and Zeeshan suffered critical injuries.

People of the area told Dawn on Friday that they tried hard to get the rival groups to stop fire, but in vain.

However, the local administration with the help of elders brokered a temporary ceasefire between the rivals andlaunched aninquiryinto the clash.

Meanwhile, residents of Damadola area of Mamond tehsil voiced concern over the use of substandard material in the construction of a road in the region.

Talking to reporters on Friday, they said the material used in the Inayat Killi-Damadola road was of low quality.They pointed out that the contractor belonged to an influential family and did not take their repeated requests seriously. Correspondent
