Court restores allowance of AMC paramedics

ABBOTTABAD: The Peshawar High Court`s Abbottabad circuit bench restored the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) allowance of paramedical staff of the Ayub Medical College and Ayub Medical Complex (AMC) Teaching Hospital on Friday. The payment of allowance was stopped to the paramedics a few months ago.

The court accepted an appeal filed by 53 health employees for regular hearing and has directed the administration to pay the allowance till decision on the appeal. The appeal was filed by Qazi Lateefur Rehman, Mohammad Imtiaz and others.

The two-member bench comprising Justice Qalandar Ali Khan and Justice Atique Shah after initial hearing issued notices to the hospital`s BoG chairman and director finance, directing them not to stop payment of allowance to the employ-ees. Former advocate general Qazi Rasheedul Haq appeared on behalf of the employees.

BLOOD TRANSFUSION: The groundbreaking ceremony of blood transfusion centre was held at Ayub Medical Complex Teaching Hospital here on Friday. The centre will be constructed with the financial assistance of the government of Germany through KfW (Germany). Barrister Javed Panni, chairman BOG of Ayub Medical Complex, director of KfW for Afghanistan/ Pakistan Christian Karemer and its country director KfW Wolf Moler, national co-coordinator of Safe Blood Transfusion Programme Prof Hassan Abbas Zaheer and other relevant officials attended the ceremony.

The Abbottabad centre is the 15th in the country being established by the KfW which would cost Rs190 million. A total of Rs380 million has been allocated for the upgradation and construction of blood centres inKhyber Pakhtunkhwa. Mr Panni said that 10 regional blood centres had been constructed while blood banks of 30 hospitals would be upgraded.

Mr Panni asked the youth to come forward and donate blood for the needy people. He thanked the German donors for providing the financial assistance.

Christian Karemer thanked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for taking interest in the project and assured it of early completion of the project.

KILLED: A man killed his elder brother here at Gulshan-i-Iqbal over a property dispute in the jurisdiction of Mirpur police station late on Thursday night.

According to the police report, Rahat Qayyum developed a dispute on ownership of one room in their house with his elder brother Farrukh Qayyum and after exchange of hot words he shot Farrukh dead. Police arrested Rahat and have booked him under Section 302.
