IRP encouraged to help Orakzai people

KOHAT: Orakzai district deputy commissioner Mohammad Asif Raheem on Thursday urged a visiting delegation of the Islamic Relief Pakistan (IRP) to help in development of the war-hit area for provision of basic amenities of life to the affected tribesmen.

A statement issued here by the regional information department said that the deputy commissioner received the delegation of IRP office-bearers, led by in-charge of the African region Mohammad Amin Sheikh, area program manager, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Siddique Mehsud, Wisal Mohammad and senior project manager Rohail Ahmed in his of fice.

Assistant commissioner lower and assistant commissioner (revenue),Orakzai, and officials of irrigation, agriculture, sports, livestock, planning and social welfare departments were also present in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that the tribesmen suffered the brunt of the long war on terror and had lost their houses and businesses.

He said that the affected people were forced to live in makeshift shelters and needed help for starting normallife.

He said the IRP could play its role in development of the area and helping the administration to revive the business, social and cultural activities there.

The deputy commissioner thanked the delegation for their visit to Orakzal district.
