Dir villagers call for early completion of road project

LOWER DIR: Residents of Pato and Panjo villages in Talash here on Thursday complained that work on their road could not be completed despite the passage of four years.

Talking to mediapersons, the area elders Mohammad Jabbar, Nizamuddin, Shakirullah and Khair Mohammad said that work on the one kilometre PatoPanjo road was started with a cost of Rs12 million four years ago, but it could not be completed as yet.

They said that the concerned contractor had stopped work on the project for unknown reasons. They said that due to incomplete work the villagers faced difficulties while the motorists were reluctant to drive on the dilapidated road.

The elders said they had brought the matter into the notice of local Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lawmakers, but to no avail. They demanded of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to take notice of the matter and order completion of the road project without delay.

NURSES` ROLE: Speakers at a func-tion held in Timergara here on Thursday lauded the contribution of nurses to health care security.

The College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, a private health institution, arranged the function, which was attended by doctors, nurses, paramedics and medical students.

MPA Liaquat Ali, Timergara hospital MS Dr Daud Khan, tehsil chairman-elect Mufti Irfanuddin, principal of the college Mrs Rashida Manzoor and others spoke on the occasion.

They said that nurses occupied a respectable place in the society due to their humanitarian services. They said the students of this college would serve their communities after completing their courses.

`Only women can solve the problems being faced by women,` said Mufti Irfan.

He said he would provide a power transformer to the college after taking oath of his of fice.

Mrs Rashida demanded of the government to resolve the issues being faced by the nurses. Shields and certificates were also distributed among the nurses on the occasion.
