SHANGLA: Traders and residents of Bisham city blocked the Karakoram Highway and held a protest demonstration against Pesco for not paying heed to repair their faulty transformer.
They gathered on the KKH in Bisham Bazaar two days after their transformer developed a fault, leaving them to bear the scorching summer heat in the absence of electricity.
The protesters chanted slogans against the government and Peshawar Electric Supply Company for its failure to repair the transformer and end power outages.
Trader union association president Hamidur Rehman and Sher Bacha led the rally and blocked the KKH for an hour.
Addressing the protesters, the speakers said it was the third day when the transformer went out of order, but it was yet to be taken down for repair despite repeated requeststo the Pesco authorities.
They said their business had also been affected by the power outage.
The protesters dispersed after assurance of assistant commissioner, Bisham, and SDO Pesco to repair the transformer on emergency basis and reduce the power outages.
HOUSE GUTTED: A three-storey building was gutted after fire broke out in one of its rooms at Langbar area of Chakesar here on Thursday.
Local residents told this scribe that fire erupted in the three-storey house of Sahib Zada and his two brothers in remote Langbar area.
They said the local people tried to put out the fire, but could not manage to save the house. They said no one was injured in the incident, but all household items were gutted.
The affected family members have urged the government and local administration to help rebuild their house and provide shelter to them.
