BAHAWALPUR: The Speedo Bus Service operation between Bahawalpur and Lodhran was restored on Friday after the intervention of Governor Balighur Rehman.

Sources said the private company representatives and the government functionaries reached an understanding to settle the matter regarding the payment of the former`s arrears. But no official announcement has been made by the Punjab government or the district government about the development so far.

The company has resumed the operation with its six-coach fleet.

It may be recalled thatthe company had halted its operation on Thursday.

The closure of the operation had caused concerns among the general public, particularly the students travelling from Lodhran to Bahawalpur.

CHILD`S MURDER: The Sammasatta police claim to have solved the mystery of the disappearance of a five-year-old boy and arrested his alleged killer.

According to PRO Umar Saleem of DPO, Mahir Ali (5), a student of Class I, had gone missing from his house in Mohallah Qasimabad, Khangah Sharif, on May 8. On the complaint of his father Jamshed Abbas, the police had registered an FIR.

The complainant said his son had gone out in thestreet from where he mysteriously disappeared.

The officials said a police team, comprising DSP Jamshed Ali, DSP Saddar Azhar Gilani and the SHO Sammsatta, interrogated the suspects from the area. During the search operation, the suspect, Muhammad Shahid, was taken into custody.

During interrogation, Shahid confessed to his crime and led the police to an under-construction building from where the body of the child was recovered.

The PRO said the body had been sent to hospital for a post-mortem and it would premature to say that the boy was raped or notasthe suspecthadnot revealed the motive behind to murder.
