A matter of apology

2024-05-20
I RECENTLY watched a video of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister, who appeared to be convincing the audience that the May 9 incidents had nothing to do with his political party. I found thestatement quite contrary to all the facts that are already in the public domain.

It is truly sad that while talking about the happenings of May 9, it is easily forgotten that many police personnel suffered serious injuries as well while dealing with the violent protesters. The chief minister, in the said video, was seen demanding an apology from the quarters unknown. Will he apologise for the physical and mental damages that people under his party banner inflicted upon those police officers who were just doing their job? Or is it that the chief minister thinks that the lives and honour of police personnel do not matter? And, by the way, it is not just the physical injury that the police force had to put up with in this case. The officials were vilified and their families were threatened on social media by party supporters which was utterly shameful.
