12 terrorists killed in KP, Balochistan ops: ISPR

PE SH AWA R/Q UE TTA: Two FC personnel were martyred and 12 terrorists killed in operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the military`s media wing said in a statement on Monday.

According to the ISPR, the operations were conducted in Lakki Marwat, Bannu and North Waziristan districts of KP and Kech in Balochistan.

In the intelligencebased operation in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, security forces gunned down two terrorists after an intense exchange of fire.

The statement added that two security personnel embraced martyrdom during the clash in Mir Ali.

They were identified as Sepoy Farhad Ali Turi, 29, from Kurram and Lance Naik Sabir Afridi, 32, from Kohat.

In another operation in Lakki Marwat, five terrorists were killed by security forces. Two terrorists were also gunned down in Bannu.

In Balochistan, three terrorists were gunned down in Awaran and Turbat area of Kech districts.

According to the ISPR, the operations were conducted in Gishkur, Awaran, on Saturday and Sunday, on the reported presence of terrorists.

During the operation, the troops `effectively engaged` the terrorists` location and after an intense exchange of fire, a terrorist was killed and two were injured.

The deceased was identified as Younis.

In the second operation in Turbat, Kech, security forces successfully killed two terrorists, identified as Sabirullah and Amjad alias Bichoo.

The ISPR statement claimed the deceased terrorists were associated with the banned Baloch Liberation Front, which is an `Indian proxy` carrying out terror attacks inside Pakistan.

The terrorists killed in KP operations were also part of the group allegedly backed by India, the ISPR claimed.

They were responsible for multiple attacks on law enforcement agencies as well as civilians.

Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the possession of the deceased terrorist.

The ISPR added that sanitisation operations were conducted to eliminate anyotherterrorists presentin the area.

It added security forces and the nation were determined to thwart `attempts by Indian proxies at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan`.

President Asif Ali Zardari has lauded the security forces for the successful operations.

`Our resolve to eliminate terrorist elements and defend the country will remain unwavering,` he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the presidency.

In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the security forces for the successful operations against terrorists.

He paid tribute to Sepoy Turi and Lance Naik Afridi who embraced martyrdom while fighting against the terrorists.

PM Shehbaz said the whole nation was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the armed forces to defend the country.

`We will continue to foil designs of the terrorists and of their supporterspresent in the region to destroypeaceinPakistan, he said, accusing India of `supporting` groups carrying out attacks in Pakistan.
