LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Monday dismissed an application of former senator Azam Swati seeking permission to meet Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders detained in Kot Lakhpat jail.
In his petition, the former senator challenged the denial of permission to meet his party`s detained leaders.
The petitioner through a counsel highlighted that the jail superintendent was not allowing meetings with the detained PTl leaders. The lawyer said the petitioner went to the jail three times for a meeting, but the superintendent did not permit it.
He asked the court to order the jail superintendent to allow the petitioner to meet his party leaders detained in the Kot Lakhpat jail.
In his report, the jail superintendent stated that, according to jail rules, only family members of the accused were allowed to meet them. He said Azam Swati had no blood relation with the detained leaders of the PTI.
After going through the superintendent`s report, ATC-l Judge Manzer Ali Gill dismissed Swati`s petition, ruling that only family members were allowed to meet the inmates.
