Missing child found dead in hotel`s sewer line

LAHORE: A minor boy wasfound deadinthe sewer line of a local hotel in Islampura on Sunday two weeks after he went missing during a marriage ceremony.

Seven-year-old Hasnain went to attend a marriage ceremony of a relative with his parents at Amir Hotel two weeks ago and he went missing after the dinner. His parents and relatives launched a search but could not find him.

Victim`s family later approached Islampura police station and lodged a complaint against the hotel administration for kidnapping the boy.

Police registered the case against the hotel administration under kidnap charges and started investigations.

On Friday, a large number ofarea people also gathered outside the police station and protested against them for failing to recover the minor.

Meanwhile, police highups reached the spot and assured the family members of recovering the boy. On police assurance, family members and protesters dispersed.

On Sunday, sanitation workers were called by the hotel administration when water started accumulating in the basement of the hotel.

As the workers were busy draining and cleaning the basement, they spotted the minor boy`s body floating in the sewer line.

Police reached the spot and recovered the body from sewerage and shifted it to morgue for medical examination. Police called forensic experts to collect crime scene evidence and also recorded the statements of eyewitnesses.

According to Islampura SHO Nasir Hameed, circum-stantial evidence showed that the boy might have fallen into the drain and drowned.

He said no marks of torture were found on victim`s body. However, the body was shifted to the morgue for autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death, the SHO added.

ELECTROCUTED: A labourer was electrocuted in Kahna on Sunday.

Police said Imtiaz, 35, was sinking a tubewell at Shahzada Village when the machine accidentally touched electric wires.

Imtiaz suffered severe electric shocks.

He was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy and collected forensic evidence.
