A fabulous win

2017-06-20
KUDOS to minnows Pakistan for their outstanding show against a formidable Indian team. The contest saw the Pakistanis emerging as champions of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Isolated now for eight years and ranked eighth before the tournament, the green shirts began their campaign as underdogs.

Their humiliating loss against the Indians in their first clash of the tournament dented and dashed the hopes of Pakistan fans. Given this depressing scenario, their resounding victory is indeed fabulous, to say the least.

In the words of Virat Kohli, who appeared to be gracious in defeat, `They outplayed us. They were more intense and passionate on the day.

Hats off to Sarfaraz who faced a barrage of criticism after the first clash. He kept his cool and led the team to victory against all odds, giving a befitting reply to his detractors in the end. Under his bold leadership, our boys played like a cohesive unit and earned a glorious win for the country, making the entire nation proud.

With his humble attitude and hard work in the field, Sarfaraz has endeared himself.

Along with the Champions Trophy, Pakistan is taking back home two finds in the shape of opener Fakhar Zaman and spirited bowler Hasan Ali, who received a golden ball for being the best bowler.

Our cricketers proved to the world once again that we have enormous potential and tremendous talent. Let us pray that they build on this supreme performance.

Khadim Hussain Subhpoto Hyderabad (2) AS aptly put by Dawn Pakistan really trounced India in a dream final. It was a superb performance by the young Pakistani cricketers. What can one say except that they have taken their traditional brand of predictable unpre dictability to a new zenith.

From where we were to where we`ve come, Pakistan`s performance has been dominant and sensational. It cannot get any better.

Moin Mohajir Karachi (3) KUDOS to Pakistan cricket team for outclassing their haughty arch-rivals in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy.

Who would have thought that a weak team like Pakistan could win such a big event? Our boys batted superbly to set a huge target thanks to Fakhar Zaman for his momentous ton and Azhar Ali and Hafeez for their half centuries. Sarfaraz dispelled the notion that India is a hard nut to crack. He has made his mark in the history of Pakistan cricket by beatingIndia so convincingly.

The glittering performances by Hassan and Fakhar indicate that there is no dearth of talent in Pakistan. All we have to do is to identify and select our heroes and polish them so that they play their role in taking Pakistan cricket to new glory.

However, let us not forget that all of this was possible owing to the blessings of Almighty Allah and the hard work of all the players. Sunday June 18 was a red letter day for the Pakistani nation.

Nageeb Hussain Parachinar, Kurram Agency (4) THE victory at the Oval surely rivals that other famous one at the same ground. The clinical destruction of the formidable Indian batting line-up will go down in the annals of memorable triumphs.

Sarf araz`s young and unf ancied team excelled in every department of the game, be it batting, bowling or fielding. The captaincy too was notches above that of our competitors. Indeed a great gift to the nation ahead of Eid.
